Grasstrack Banter Promotions to Host New Look ACU British Grasstrack Championship

The ACU Track Racing Commission (TRC) is delighted to announce that the ACU British Grass Track Championship will be hosted by Grasstrack Banter Promotions on Sunday, 6th July 2025. This historic event, renowned for showcasing the best of Grasstrack racing, is set to embrace an exciting transformation with a revamped format designed to elevate competition.

Grasstrack Banter Promotions, known for their tireless promotion of the sport, are working closely with the ACU TRC to deliver an unforgettable championship. The updated format will honour the rich traditions of the event while introducing fresh plans to enhance the competition.

“We are incredibly excited to be the first club to host the new-look British Grasstrack Championship,” said Gareth Bemister, Chairman of Grasstrack Banter Promotions. “Our team is committed to creating an event that riders, fans, and the entire Grasstrack community can take immense pride in. We believe this new format will set new standards for the championship.”

Revamped Format for 2025

The 2025 championship introduces several key changes aimed at increasing competition and quality:

  • New GT140 Solo Class: The popular GT140 solo class joins the existing 250cc and 350cc solo classes, along with the Left-Hand Sidecars, adding an exciting new element to the event.
  • Streamlined Solo Numbers: Each solo class will feature a reduced number of riders to heighten competition:
  • GT140 Solos: 16 riders
  • 250cc Solos: 16 riders
  • 350cc Solos: 16 riders
  • Left-Hand Sidecars: 12 riders
  • Competitor Selection:
  • Reigning champions in each class will receive an automatic seed into the championship.
  • The reigning intermediate 250cc youth champion will also be seeded into the 250cc solo class.
  • The remaining competitors will be selected from the 2024 National Grading List standings, as follows:
  • 250cc Solos: Top 13 riders
  • GT140 Solos: Top 14 riders
  • 350cc Solos: Top 14 riders
  • Left-Hand Sidecars: Top 11 crews
  • This adjustment heightens competition for places and encourages regular participation throughout the season to secure a coveted spot.

  • The TRC will select 1 wildcard for each solo class (subject to competing in a minimum of two meetings in their chosen class prior to the championship) and applications will open shortly.
  • Enhanced Race Format: Riders will now compete in Four qualifying rides ensuring they compete against every other competitor at least once. This fairer and more balanced programme culminates in a high-stakes, winner-takes-all British Championship Final.
  • These updates reflect the shared vision of The ACU Track Racing Commission and Grasstrack Banter Promotions to foster greater competition, excitement, and fairness while preserving the core values of the sport and making the championship stand out.

Increased Prize Money:  The 2025 championship will also see a boost in prize money, ensuring that champions are rewarded for their efforts and dedication.
