Glasgow have been allocated an FIM SGP2 (World Under-21 Championship) Qualifier next season.
The meeting will take place on Saturday May 24, 2025, and will feature many of the sport’s top youngsters, including representation from Great Britain, as they battle for places in the three-round SGP2 series.
The club have staged several FIM events over recent years, including the Grand Prix Challenge in 2022 and GP Qualifiers in two earlier seasons.
And now after further investment into the venue, including a new air fence, Ashfield will once again be up to FIM regulation standards enabling the staging of prestigious international events.
Great Britain Youth boss Neil Vatcher said: “Following the announcement, I am delighted that the FIM have awarded Glasgow the SGP2 Qualifier.
“Firstly, I’m pleased for the Glasgow promotion and owners, who as we all know have invested so much into the stadium, and it is a venue now that is worthy of hosting such big International events.
“And secondly, from a selfish point of view, I’m again delighted that we can host such an event on home soil.
“This will hopefully give the British riders who are nominated for this event the very best opportunity to qualify for the 2025 SGP2 series.”
The Glasgow event is one of three SGP2 qualifiers on May 24, with the others at Pardubice (Czech Rep) and Debrecen (Hungary). The 2025 SGP2 series takes place at Malilla (Sweden), Riga (Lativa) and Vojens (Denmark).
