Ace Pijper was crowned British Under-19 Champion with 11 points out of a possible 12 at Oxford on Sunday.
The Scunthorpe/Sheffield racer tied with his WSRA NDL team-mate Luke Harrison after four completed rides, with Pijper taking it on countback having beaten Harrison when they met in Heat 4.
Home youngster Jody Scott was third on ten points with the final round of heats unable to take place as rain steadily intensified to leave conditions unsuitable for racing.
15-year-old William Cairns won his first two rides but was involved in a heavy crash with Luke Killeen in the first running of Heat 16, and he was taken to hospital with concussion, a broken nose and bruising to his lungs.
Pijper said: “It feels good. It was a little bit of a shame that the weather kind of ruined the night for Luke (Harrison) as well, and Jody could have also got to the top, but luck had to come my way at some point, and it did!
“I wanted to do the last race, and me and Luke could have had a nice run-off, but I wouldn’t say I’m not happy with it, because I’m very happy!”
