After a summer break the ACU TRS Sidecar Trials Championship arrived on Sunday at Dunsfold for the Normandy Club Ray Thomas event. As always 18 well designed sections were waiting for the competitors.
Toby Smith and Hannah Moore took an impressive win in the Newcomers class with a single 5 on an otherwise clean sheet. A DNF for class leaders Peter Dale and George Lulham has seen a change in the overall championship standings, a win for Stuart Riches and Macy King made the trip down south well worth the effort. In the Inters another win for Daryl and Hannah Dale keeps them at the top of the table but can’t afford any slip ups with Rob Head and Aaron Jacobs still in striking distance of the title.
Josh and Luke Golding had an unforced 5 on section 2 when a spoke broke on the rear wheel and flicked the chain off, by the end of lap one Steve and Izzy Sauders were level on 5 each. The Golding boys brought their A game for lap 2 and cleaned 18 sections, Steve and Izzy had 12.
Third in the Championship Class were Neil and Mike Franks on the innovative Electric Motion machine who are gradually closing the gap on the two front runners with and excellent 9 on the second lap.
The champions concludes this weekend with a double header event at Non Stop Trials in South Wales, all the classes have potential for upset.
