The SC Sporthomes team reigned supreme at the 2024 staging of the Farleigh Castle Vets MX event, winning in fine style. Clement Desalle, Sam Sunderland, and Danny McCanney showed their class on the way to the title over Team England, which finished second, with Fluid Racing in third.
A good crowd rocked up to watch the stars of now and yesteryear, with many big names duking it out in races or participating in the Legends parade.
(Del Boy) AKA Chris Dawson, the business entrepreneur and the man behind the Range and Wilko, led the Parade Lap in front of Graham Noyce No 33 and No 1 Dave Thorpe, who was followed by many others. Chris who was one of the main sponsors of the event had asked to do this parade and wanted to do it for charity and his choice of Charity was for the NSPCC, with donations already been given prior to the event as well as people donating on the day and with it had raised a lot of money in the the process.
The action in the International Team races was out of the top drawer, with the SC Sporthomes trio duking it out with the likes of Brad Anderson, who won two motos, Jake Shipton, Lewis Tombs, Luke Dean, Richard Bird, Mark Eastwood and more for the top placings. Desalle also took the chequers on two occasions, thoroughly enjoyed his first visit to Farleigh Castle, and is keen to return in 2025.
In the Super Evo class, Jamie Skuse blitzed the field with four wins on his way to the title ahead of James Barnwell in second and Tye Barrs in third, while in the Super Evo over 50, Rob Herring rolled back the year with an immaculate four wins from four. Behind Herring was Steve Wells in second, with Jason Aylett in third.
Todd Ritchie took two wins on his way to the Super Evo 125 title, fending off second-placed Luke Newman and Archie Hicks in third, and over in the Super Evo Open category Adam Chatfield pitched in with a pair of victories to take the title ahead of Harry Bradley and Tom Gilbert. In the Evo Ultra Over 50, Mark Eastwood was a dominant force, taking maximum points and the overall over American Doug Dubach in second and Phil Lewis in third.
The 125cc class was super competitive, and Elliot Barrs fought his way to victory. He saw off the advances of Jim Davies in second and Robbie Horton.
Steve Bixby notched up two race victories in the Evo Open category on his way to the win, with George Gough who took the chequers in race 2, edging out Moto 1 victor Gavin Robertson for second.
Brian Wheeler has still got it and stormed to the Evo Open over 50 title with a clean sweep, with Danny Scheers in Second and Danny Blakely rounding out the podium in third.
In the Twinshock, Will Burgess racked up three race wins on his way to the overall victory, ahead of Scheers, who had a busy weekend, and Howard Standfield.
