Unfortunately, Dan Mundell has been forced to withdraw from the 2024 International Six Days Enduro due to an injury sustained at the penultimate round of the British Enduro Championship. Harry Edmondson will move up to the Men’s Trophy Team, with Sam Hughes joining the Team GB ranks to fill Harry’s spot in the Junior Trophy Team.
Following a crash at the penultimate round of the British Enduro Championship last Saturday, Dan Mundell has injured his wrist and is therefore unable to compete in the 2024 International Six Days Enduro. Dan is gutted to have suffered an injury so close to the event, but will still join Team GB out in Spain in a support role.
Harry Edmondson will step up to the Men’s Trophy Team to fill Dan’s spot. The 23-year-old has two years of experience in not only racing, but finishing, the ISDE and has had a strong year in the Junior category in the FIM EnduroGP World Championship.
Therefore, Sam Hughes will be joining Team GB in the Junior Trophy Team. The young Brit has had an impressive year competing in the Youth class in EnduroGP, with his best result coming recently at the final round, when he finished fourth on day one in France. Consistently placing in the top 10 at various British and Welsh championship events, Sam will no doubt be an excellent addition to the Junior Trophy Team.
Sam Hughes: “I’m really excited to have the opportunity to represent Great Britain at the ISDE this year! It’s such an iconic event and to be able to wear the GB jersey is amazing, so I’m grateful to the team for asking me to step up. It’s been a great year for me and this has just topped it off.”
Jamie Lewis – ISDE Team GB Team Manager: “Of course, we are gutted about losing Dan. He’s had a strong run of form recently, especially after the GP of Wales when he really impressed everyone, so it’s a shame to see him end his season early. Unfortunately, these things happen in our sport. However, I’m delighted to give Sam Hughes the opportunity as he has shown a lot of potential this year. He’s done really well at a lot of the Welsh and World events and will be a great addition to the team. I’m also really grateful to Harry for stepping up to the senior team!”
