Red Bull Tyne ride a huge success

The inagural Red Bull Tyne Ride event in the centre of Newcastle at the weekend was declared a huge success and the ACU were right at the front, being the official permitting authority.

Our image shows two legends, twelve times World Trials Champion, Dougie Lampkin and Billy Bolt, who was at the forefront of this unique event.

The knockout runs took place on Friday afternoon and Saturday in brilliant sunshine with a huge spectator attendance for the main action on the Quayside in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Twenty two invited riders all had free practise, timed practise and three runs to establish themselves as the line up was whittled down to just two riders for the final.  At 4pm on Saturday afternoon Johnny Walker was declared the eventual winner.

Clerk of the Course and Race Director, Brian Higgins commented, " A lot of people contributed to the success of the event from the planning stages, the two test days back in April, the course build and the event itself. Obviously, the weather made a huge impact on such an ambitious plan, but this unique event highlighted the sport to many new fans.  I would like to thank all the riders for joining into the concept of the event and respecting the rules as the day progressed".

There are many links to view the event on the Red Bull platforms.
