Round 7 of the ACU Ladies and Girls Trials Championship

Tuesday July 2, 2024 at 9:50am

The 7th round of the ACU Ladies and Girls Trials Championship sponsored by Belle Trailers was held on Sunday at Purls Hill, Braintree, Essex.  Competitors had recently returned  from rounds 5/6 in the Isle of Man.

Nick Ogden and his team from the Chelmsford & District Auto Club with help from other local Clubs Castle Colchester etc set out an very sensible course, with ten sections to be ridden over four laps. If you think Essex is a flat county, think again. Thanks to landowner Paul Belton and family for allowing this superb trials venue to be used by several Clubs throughout the year.

Purls Hill offered massive steep bankings, tree roots, fallen trees and some very dusty slippy approaches to climbs, which made throttle control and balance an essential ingredient for a good performance.

The Isle of Mans Kaytlyn Adshead  TRS had the correct technique from the very beginning being the best on section two, a twisting climb through trees, loosing just a three on lap 3. Alice Minta Scorpa a maximum on lap 2 and Alicia Robinson Beta a 3 1 2.   In the A class Brianna King Llandrindod Wells had a good two mark ride on lap 3 and newly promoted Holly Dixon  Scarborough Club getting out with threes on her final two laps.

Adshead set the pace cleaning the first three laps and then just a three on section two and then a dab on section five, to make a total of four lost.  This was a very good ride showing complete concentration through out the event.  Minta finished on eight and Robinson on twelve.

Niki Louis took the inters with good rides through out the day to finish on 13, followed by Ruby McCubbin Isle of Man on 24.  Brianna King was best A class on 55.  Irelands Sophie Ferguson Beta took the Girls B on 29 marks lost. Lilley Butterworth Peveril Club runner up on 67, Daisy-Mai Mitchell on 81 and Chloe Butler 85.

Kents Lilly Wright won the girls C class with an exceptional tide of just 5 marks lost. Jodie Cummins on 16 and Scarlett Collins 18Girls D  went to Harper Oliver Beta on 21 lost with Chloe Grace Charlton on 36.

In the championships:
