Raga going for fourth gold at DL12
With his focus set firmly on a fourth Sheffield victory, Adam Raga – Sherco is the latest superstar to sign up to compete at the DL12 Indoor Trial V3.0 at the city’s Utilita Arena on Saturday 18th January 2025 where he will lock horns with top-flight riders including Toni Bou and Toby Martyn, whose participation was confirmed last month.

The veteran Spaniard, who at forty-two years of age will be the oldest competitor in action, is aiming to bring his wealth of experience – as well, of course, as his silky-smooth skills – into play when he goes into battle against the best Trial riders on the planet in the New Year.

At this year’s DL12 Indoor Trial V2.0 in January, Raga – who won the first-ever edition of the event in 2023 – treated the capacity crowd to a world exclusive when he made his competitive debut for his new Sherco team. On a famous night for the sport he recorded a sensational second place in the Final behind his long-time rival Bou and with a full year on his new machine under his belt he is aiming to go one better next time around.

“Sheffield is always a very special event for me and one I look forward to because the fans are crazy and always make me feel very welcome,” he said. “It is the first big event of the new season and is a great opportunity to get the year under way with a good result so it was fantastic to complete my hat-trick of wins in 2023.

“I was very happy to finish second this year on my Sherco debut and now I have had much more time on the bike I feel very confident I can challenge for victory at DL12 Indoor Trial V3.0.”

Having already savoured the sweet taste of victory in Sheffield on three previous occasions when riding for GASGAS in 2005 and TRRS in 2016 and 2023, a fourth win will mean Raga becomes the only rider to top the podium in the Steel City riding for three different manufacturers.

Bou has won in Sheffield an incredible fourteen times, but he has twice been beaten there by Raga who represents a very real threat to his dominance. A two-time FIM TrialGP World Champion and four-time FIM X-Trial World Champion, the man from Ulldecona – a Catalan town a couple of hours’ drive south down the Mediterranean coast from Barcelona – has been a member of the sport’s elite since 1998.

He will need to draw upon every ounce of this hard-won experience if he is going to add a fourth King of Sheffield crown to his glittering list of accolades, though you can guarantee that he will be laying it all on the line.

With more major names scheduled to be announced over the coming weeks, the DL12 Indoor Trial V3.0 is an event fans cannot afford to miss.
