Rounds 1 & 2 of the ACU British Enduro Sprint Championship kicked off at Rogershill Raceway in Dorset. Both rounds were set on one long enduro test with a real mix of going, the test was then reversed for Sunday, shaking up some of the podiums.
On Saturday Dan Mundell took the overall win and was the only rider to sneak under the 7minute mark. In Second place was Aaron Gordon and Alfie Webb finished the day in third. For Sunday Alex Snow finished in first place setting the fastest lap by just over 10 seconds. Second place again was the consistent Aaron Gordon, securing the championship points lead. In third place was Alfie Webb, with Ricky Wiggins just 10 seconds back in 4th place. Brad King took the win in the championship E1 class for both days. In the championship E3 class Ross Danby kept it smooth to win both days also.
In the Expert E1 class Ben Zeale was flying and took the top spot both days. The rest of the podium was hotly contested with Ollie Samways finishing second on day one and third on day two. Day one Third place was Endaf Hughes. For day two Brett Pocock settled into it for a second-place finish. In the E2 class Keelan Hope dominated winning both days. In Second place both days was Dan Guy. In third place day one was Josh Kirby, but Sunday rider Christopher Milliar took third for day two. In the E3 class Ryan Mundell kept it consistent to win both days. John Ridgway and Ryan Burton battled it out with Burton placing second on day one, with Ridgway third, but the pair swapped places for day two.
The clubman E1 category was won by youngster Rees Jones on both days. Again, second and third had a great fight with Harry Hunt second on Saturday but Third Sunday and Charlie Hucklebridge taking third Saturday and second on Sunday. In the E2 class Jack Flemming won Saturday, with Sunday’s winner Ben Sprigg in second. Dan Alldred finished day one in third. Sunday’s second place was James Boyce, followed by Ross Curtis in third. In E3 the podium remained the same both days with John Stanley in first, Dean Kiff in Second and Jordan Kiff in third.
In the ladies’ class, Emily Hall took the win on both days. Second place on Saturday was Zoe Zembrzuski and Ceri Wyn Jones finished in Third. For day two Ceri kept it smooth to finish in second, followed by third place Christina Pillar.
Jack Allen took the sportsman win on day one by nearly 3minutes. In second place was Marcus Feltham, followed by Robert Maller. For day two some Sunday only riders shook things up, Jamie Marshal set some fast times from the off to take the win. Edward Heard kept it consistent for second, with Jack Allen in third.
James Drinkwater dominated the vet’s class, winning both days by a comfy margin. In second place both days was Adrian Heard who held off some quick day riders. Gary McCoy took third on Saturday then ran off the podium to go to work. For Sunday Leigh Williams took third place.
The youth class was stacked which was awesome to see. Tomos Jones had a fantastic weekend taking the top spot on both days, even finishing 30th in the overall results on Sunday!! Harrison Rees finished second on day one, with Bodie Johns stealing the spot for Sunday. Reece Giles kept it consistent to finish third both days.
The Ben Saville memorial trophy was awarded to Jasper Player, for his determination to continue riding despite some big crashes both days. £565 was raised in Ben’s memory for the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance thanks to the raffle held on Saturday.
