Tuesday June 4, 2024 at 11:20am

The 5th round of the ACU Youth British Trials Championship sponsored by OSET was staged by the Hookwood Trials Club at their Trials Centre in Surrey.

Nearly 70 competitors experienced riding the banks, gullies, rocks and tree roots of this superb trials venue. Weather was patchy but the rain held off.

The organising Club laid on a super event and met all the section severity regulations  laid down by the ACU for 2024.  All riders recorded some clean rides and marks were lost to decide the winners.

Euan Sim Sherco continued his winning ways in the Elite A class, finishing on just 11 marks followed by Harry Cripps 28 and Thomas Le Bretton on 49.

Max Dance won B class and the only rider to clean the entire Trial. Hookwoods Thomas Packham on 9 continued his runner up spots. Mason Vasey third place on 16.

In the C class Cameron Batty Sedburgh Club in this hotly contested class was outstanding finishing on just 9 marks. With the section severity slightly reduced there were some new happy faces on the podium. Benjamin James West Gloucester

runner up on 15 and Horsforth club member Alfie Drachenberg in 3rd on 19. The two class favourites Mason Tidd and Sam Leferve failing at the tricky rocky beck of section six.

D class medium wheel went to Joseph Larkin on 15 followed by local riders Dexter Rowden on 38 and Tommy Wakeford 38. Rowden taking it by 21 to 20 cleans.

D class small wheel went to Scotland’s Alisdair Pollock Oset on a misery 1 mark. Rocco Watson also 1 mark but losing out on furthest cleanest. Kyle Bateman in third on 4 marks.

Riders and Parents were full of praise for a very well organised and enjoyable trial organised by the Hookwood Trials Club Surrey.
