Men’s Trophy Team hold onto second place, Nieve Holmes keeps smashing it and Charlie Chater retires. Day 3 is over and done with, marking the halfway point of the event. Thank you to both Lyndon Poskitt Racing and K.J. Services for sponsoring Day 3.
The sun was a lot kinder today, with highs of only 29 degrees compared to 44 degrees on Days 1 and 2. It made a huge difference, with riders able to regulate their body temperature more quickly.
The Men’s Trophy Team finished fifth today but are still lying second overall, just 40 seconds ahead of France. Jamie and Jed had some great tests which has helped the team retain their second place. In Test 3, Jed finished 6th, as did Nathan in Test 5.
Unfortunately, Charlie Chater retired from the 2023 ISDE at check two today. He had really struggled with sickness both yesterday and today and his dad Martin made the decision to pull him out of the race, a decision which was not made lightly. Charlie is gutted as you can imagine but the team are immensely proud of him for starting today.
The remaining Junior Team riders Max Ingham and Harry Edmondson both had their best day so far, finishing 15th and 9th respectively. Harry had a few bike issues at the start of the day, but after he made a few tweaks he was good to go and put in some competitive times. Max is powering on, always so cool and collected at checks and tests- not bad for an ISDE newbie!
Nieve continued her consistent steak in the Women’s World Trophy class and finished 7th overall. Her best test of the day was Test 6 where she placed 6th. She is doing incredibly well in the tough conditions
