Team GB arrived in San Juan, Argentina on Monday and have had a busy week since. On Monday afternoon some of the team began walking special tests, both surprised and excited by the dry, rocky terrain that Argentina has to offer. The views are spectacular all the time and everyone is enjoying the sun.
Tuesday saw the paddock open to teams and the arrival of our container, which the team were glad to see after its three-month trip across the Atlantic. The British Support Team got to work unpacking the container and setting up the British base at the paddock, in a prime location next to parc fermé, the working area and the start ramp.
The riders and team manager Jamie Lewis, joined by other members of Team GB, had three full days of walking special tests, totalling over 90km of walking. From motocross tracks to dams and rolling, rocky hills, it will certainly be a test of adaptability for all riders. The terrain is unfamiliar and will take some getting used to but the test track action of Thursday and Friday allowed the riders to give it a go.
On Friday evening, some members of the management team attended a presentation by the FIM and RFME regarding the 2024 ISDE. The event will be held in the Galicia region of Spain, based in the town of Silleda.
Saturday was busy with administration and technical inspection around midday, as well as an official photography session for the media. The evening was spent in the centre of San Juan at the Teatro del Bicentenario for the ISDE Opening Ceremony, where there was a Nations Parade and speeches.
The team have enjoyed having Dyfed Dirt Bike Club (DDBC) here with them under the awning and wish them the best of luck for the event. The club team is made up of Jack Probert, Neil Hawker and Rhys Evans.
Team GB Manager Jamie Lewis said: “We have had a great week preparing for the race and the entire team is in high spirits. I’m really excited to get started and prove that we can defend our titles!”
GTCI Team GB are incredibly excited for the week ahead and can’t wait to get started. The aim is of course to defend last year’s hard-earned titles and bring as many trophies back to the UK as possible!
Thank you to all sponsors and media for your support, it is widely appreciated by the team and we hope you have enjoyed the content we have shared so far.
