Cumbrian Tom Swindlehurst took his first victory in the Manx Two Day Trial last weekend on the Isle of Man. After putting in the best performance on the first day he rode solidly on the second day, in much better weather conditions to seal the win and take home the silverware. The best Manx competitor was Glen Vine’s Chris Madigan who took the runner up spot to Swindlehurst. Madigan put in his best performance in his home event so far and really kept the pressure on the winner throughout the weekend.
In the Clubman Solo class James Francis took top spot by a narrow margin from former MGP/TT competitor Kiaran Hankin. Split by just 2 marks at the end of two full days of competition both riders were pushed hard by third place finisher Phil Houghton who lost out to Hankin on a tie break.
The Sidecar class saw a local victory for Jack Corlett along with UK based passenger Jamie Howe. Clear leader after the first day, there had to be on their toes for day 2 to hold of the challenge of father and daughter pair Nigel and Gracie Mae Scott. Third place went to Jack’s father, John Corlett with passenger Harry Gell taking the award for best Manx pairing.
