Round two of the Portsmouth Motocross Club championship got off to a great start. All was on the line, with the meeting being a 65cc and Small wheel 85s qualifier for the ACU Revo British Championship. Track conditions were perfect and the stage was set for what would be a great day of racing!
Charlie Razzell was the man to beat in MX2. He was unstoppable! Claiming 1,1,1 and what looked like an easy first overall finish. Some outstanding riding from the number 42. Mark Atkinson came along for some battles. It wasn’t easy, but his hard work paid off. 3,3,2 for second overall. Ricky Carter came 3rd with 6,2,3.
Not so many hot shots turned up for the MX1 this week. The racing between the front two was still fantastic to watch! The best racing came in moto 2 when Luke Southern and Travis Reynolds went wheel to wheel from start to finish. Due to a hiccup from Southern from race 1 he could only manage 3rd overall on the day. Tommy Walker clawed second. Travis Reynolds went 1,1,1 for first overall.
Who will stop Tyler Kirby in the Youth MX125/250F? He is on a different level to the rest of the racers in his group at the moment. An easy 1,1,1 and what looks to be another good score towards his 2023 title chase. Charlie Guttridge couldn’t make it onto the steps and opened the door for his opposition. Leyton Duffy came second with 3,2,4. Finley Yorke-Williams came in on the last podium spot.
The ace face of the BW 85 class was the one and only Charlie Richmond. He made light work of the rough Swanmore circuit. Three wins meant that the victory was well secured! Ryan Clift came second after 3 solid rides of 3,2,2. Third place was taken by Harry Lee, who after having a 2nd place finish in moto 1, set himself up for the day ahead.
The Small Wheeled 85’s was a mixed bag of results in all 3 motos. The top three chopped and changed all day. Toby Bond went home with the win after 1,1,2. Mason Doe had an average first moto, but came back at the class even winning the final race of the day! Doe went 6,2,1 for second overall. Charlie Hobden went 2,4,3 to clinch the final spot on the podium.
Arthur King went 2,1,1 in the 65’s on his MotoXtreme KTM. Not quite a maximum score, but more than enough to claim another win early on into the season. Nixon Coppins grabbed moto 1 on Sunday with some great riding. 1,2,2 for second overall. Ellliot Shawyer stayed consistent with 3,3,3 for third overall.
Jenson King swept all 3 motos in the Auto class. A great day for the young lad who took another win in the PMXC championship. Sam McEvoy was on top form heading into Sunday’s racing. He put together 3 awesome motos managing to gain a second place finish (3,2,2). William King was once again on the podium after a day of hard work and determination.
The Vets were once again blitzed by Mark Morris. He had to work extremely hard in race 3 after having his front wheel taken on the first corner. He came all the way from 10th, making a pass for the win with just a few corners to go! 1,1,1 for maximum points. Paul Williams was strong and went 3,2,2 for second. Brad Humphrey was back yet again to strut his stuff. He came out hot in race 2 claiming the holeshot and went 4,3,3 for 3rd overall.
