It was an emotional weekend following the death of the Queen on the first day of qualifying of the European Finals at Santa Pod. On the same day drag racing also lost Jon Morton. A bike and car racers for many years who sadly died in the pits after just completing a qualifying run in his car. It was also an Emotional weekend for a different reason. Rocket bike rider Eric Teboul announced early this year this was his last season of racing.
On Saturday he was interviewed on the start line, and he asked the huge crowd if they wanted a world record. Teboul did not disappoint with a scoreboard lighting up 5.068. Huge cheers were echoed around the track. Teboul was interviewed again, and he said I ran out of fuel. I will need another 1 litre to be added for tomorrows run. Sunday and everyone was hoping Teboul could run a four second pass.
The sound of the thrust as Teboul left the start line was different (stronger) Then the crowd, racers, marshals and track crew erupted into a huge cheers Teboul had stop the clock 4.976-290.51mph. To become the first rider on a Motorcycle powered machine to run in the four second zone in the world. Eric thanks for the memories and happy retirement, you will not be forgotten after this fantastic achievement.
