Sam Cookson and Luis Murphy play chicken into Mcleans
An exciting mix of results at the 5th round of the championship saw two wins a piece for Owen Monaghan and Steve Lawton in the 50cc class and two wins for Lois Murphy in the 125 streetstock class with a win each for Dominic Gardner and Sam Cookson.
In the 50cc class Owen Monaghan stretched his championship lead to a dominant 36 points over Steve Lawton who failed to finish in race 2. Lawton compensated with wins in the next two races including taking advantage of a big error by Monaghan to grab the win in race 4 but with 7 races left in the next two meetings it’s going to be a big hill for Lawton to climb.
Four exciting races in the 125 streetstocks gave us some great battles and overtaking around the whole circuit with really good finishes all weekend.
Saturday saw Luis Murphy take the two wins and in Sundays races, Dominic Gardner took the first win over Sam Cookson; in the next event Sam reversed it and took the win over Dominic. Luis Murphy finished the day with two third places and carries a 26pt lead into the next round.
The riders move to Tonfanau for the next round on the 28th of August
