The 2022 Apico 2-Stroke Festival, featuring the Red Bull Pro Stroke National, has listened to rider feedback and implemented exciting changes to a couple of its classes.
It has been well documented that the event, to be held over the weekend of the 20
th and 21
st of August at Sellindge in Kent, is an old-school-meets-new-school style of track that has a great track-record of being popular with riders of all ages and abilities.
The breadth of classes incorporated within the two-day bike-fest offers something to all levels of rider, with cash and product prizes allocated across all groups. Whether the rider is out front, in the middle, or towards the back of the pack – all competitors will be in with a chance of being rewarded.
Allowing all riders to be part of the festival has been an important element of the event for organiser Dave Willet which has prompted him to incorporate an MX1 and MX2 Clubman Open Group. This is intended to cater for novice and intermediate riders and encourage those riders who may have used Sellindge as a practice track, but who have never raced, to get stuck in and have a go.
Likewise, the Apico Over 40s Open 2-Stroke and Red Bull Noughties is a group for riders aged 25-years-plus on machines of the 2000-2008 era – it’s all about having fun, rather than flat-out speed.
All groups are filling up quite quickly now, with the Youth and British title classes close to full capacity, and a strong line-up of Pro riders committed to the Sunday-only Red Bull Pro Stroke National Pro/Expert MX1/MX2 classes.
Said Willet; “The festival has become the home of many different abilities from Pro to grassroot riders over the past five years. We want everyone to race safe and feel comfortable while doing so. We feel that, with our range of classes, we’re catering for all and believe we are setting the scene for some great racing!”
