3rd round results of the ACU 50 Championships
125 Streetstocks wow racegoers with a spectacular finish
Saturday the 11th of June saw the 50cc and 125cc Streetstock riders go to a sunny
but windy Aintree racecourse for the 3rd round of the ACU Championships.
The 1st race of the day, the 125 Streetstock riders gave a great display of skillful riding and we
were treated to a ding dong battle of five riders constantly jockeying for the
top spot.
From 1st place on lap one.
Max Garside found himself in 5th place going into the last lap.
Garside dug in and battled his way to back to the front and took the victory from
Max Taylor 2nd and Sam Cookson 3rd Luis Murphy 4th
and Dominic Gardner 5th with less than one second covering the first
five positions. (see picture)
The 2nd Race was equally competitive, this time Luis Murphy took the flag by
half a second over Max Garside, and Sam
Cookson.
Louis Murphy now leads the 125 championship by 6 points over Sam Cookson who promoted himself to Second place with his
two 3rds. Max Garside is just behind Sam in the championship tables.
The 50cc class saw the appearance of former British 125 champion Steve Lawton
take the win by over 10 seconds in Race 1 with Owen Monaghan 2nd and
Derek Betts 3rd.
Owen won the 2nd race followed home by Derek Betts and has extended
his lead in the 50cc championships by 8 points over Derek Betts.
