A mix of sunshine and showers and 20mph+ winds during the 4th round of the ACU 50cc and 125cc Streetstock Championships saw Louis Murphy (125cc) and Owen Monaghan (50cc) take 3 wins apiece in their respective championship to stretch out the lead by 26points in each class.
Four exciting races gave us some great battles and overtaking around the whole circuit with really close finishes all weekend.
Race 1. Saw Louis Murphy and Max Gardner battle it out in the 125’s with Murphy taking the flag whilst Lawton pulled out a good lead over Monaghan to win the 50’s
That changed in race two with Monaghan finding the speed to get himself ahead of Lawton after a ding dong battle. Whilst Murphy pipped it to the flag over Gardner again.
Sunday, the winds got much stronger and the showers held back. In race 3 as Gardner got the better of Murphy in another close finish, whilst it looked like Lawton would do the same to Monaghan but at the Hairpin in a finely timed last second block pass Monaghan got himself ahead and survived the next lap to take his second win.
Race 4 saw Murphy take his third victory after a race long battle with Sam Cookson who took second place over Gardner third, in another close finish for the 125cc class. Whilst in the 50’s Monaghan in another exciting battle with Lawton took his 3rd win of the weekend with Lawton taking second place..
Both Monaghan and Murphy lead their respective classes by 26points as the championships move on to Donnington Park for the next round on the 23rd/24th of July
