Entries are now open for the 2022 Manx Grand Prix. The event has a new look for 2022 with a five-race programme set to feature a range of classes for modern and classic machinery ridden by some of the world’s best road racers alongside some of the stars of tomorrow.
The event starts with a new, longer afternoon qualifying session on Sunday 21st of August, replacing the traditional Saturday evening slot.
Qualifying continues with evening sessions scheduled for Monday 22nd, Tuesday 23rd, Wednesday 24th and Thursday the 25th of August, with the final session due to held on the afternoon of Friday 26th of August.
Racing will fire into life with the Lightweight Manx Grand Prix Race during the afternoon on Friday the 26th, with the class pitting 250cc two -stroke GP machines and four-stroke Moto 3 spec machines against each other.
Racing will continue on Saturday 27th of August with the Senior Classic Manx Grand Prix Race where the Mountain Course will echo once more to the sounds of iconic racing machines from the 1950’s and 60’s.
The Junior Manx Grand Prix is also scheduled on the Saturday race card, with the race open to Supertwin-spec bikes of up to 700cc - allowing new machinery such as the Aprilia RS660 and the Yamaha R7 to compete for the first time.
The event concludes on Bank Holiday Monday the 29th of August with two more races, both featuring revamped technical regulations and eligibility.
The Senior Manx Grand Prix will open the day featuring traditional four cylinder 600cc Supersport machines with eligibility also allowing the new ‘Next Gen’ Supersport bikes currently being used in various series across the world. This means the Triumph 765RS, the Ducati Panigale V2, the 636cc Kawasaki ZX-6R and the MV Agusta F3 will be allowed to compete for the first time against the more traditional Yamaha R6, Honda CBR600RR and Suzuki GSX-R600 machines.
The Classic Superbike Manx Grand Prix brings the curtain down on the event – also featuring rebooted regulations for the first time. All of the machines seen previously at the Classic TT will still be eligible, however the production cut off date has been extended to the end of 1996, paving the way for machines such as the iconic Honda RC45, Suzuki GSX-R750 SRAD and Ducati 916 to make a competitive comeback to racing on the Mountain Course.
