Clearing rubbish and litt
er from public events is a major concern to all event organisers, non-more so than Southern 100 Racing who organise three road races around the Colas Billown Course annually. In addition to the litter left behind each day, the competitors based in the Race Paddock have their general waste to dispose of whilst in residence.
The race organisers, ensure that the numerous wheelie bins placed around the 4.25-mile course are emptied daily plus any litter collected, along with the bins placed in the Race Paddock is disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.
The accumulated waste is transferred into two lockable skips, one situated in the Club Headquarters Car Park, the other in the Race Competitors Car Park, when once full the contents are transferred to the Energy for Waste Plant.
The provision of the large lockable skips and their subsequent transportation to the EFW Plant and empty return comes courtesy of D C Skips who are based in Foxdale and provide this valuable and environmental service in a sponsorship agreement, which also includes the Department of Infrastructure, which the race organisers, Southern 100 Racing are very appreciative.
