With just days to go the scene is set for a cracking start to the 2022 ACU British Supermoto Championship where the three-day event kicks off with trackday action, Bambino class, Mini Bikes and 'all tarmac' racing taking to the Three Sisters Circuit on Good Friday. Saturday and Easter Sunday, National and ACU Championships get underway and with predicted Spring like weather there is little excuse not to join the throng of spectators who will be heading towards Wigan to take in the atmosphere and racing.
For riders the long break is over, and the season is nearly here, All classes are revved up to put their bike skills to the test on the tarmac, plus the regraded and redesigned off road sections of the legendary Three Sisters circuit.
Jordan Bannon will be out to retain the ACU British Supermoto Crown, but there is no doubt it will be against some tough competition. The DCR Team rider has maintained his fitness levels over the winter break by taking to the hills and lanes on his enduro bike. Within the last few days Jordan has been spotted on the Isle of Man, along with a fellow Supermoto rider, Harry Purslow, taking in a variety of fantastic green lanes and mountain passes the island has to offer.
A welcome return this year to the paddock is Hein Basson who brings together multi British Champion Chris Hodgson and young Alex Mullaney under the LSP awning. Jay Smith (HGR Honda) is for sure a contender this year after missing out by the narrowest of margins last year in his bid to lift the ACU British Supermoto crown.
Team Bathmate, will bring one of the biggest team set ups to the paddock offering an even spread of riders in all classes, this year also sees Casey Jones join the line-up. The old master himself Andy Mitchells knowledge and expertise will certainly push team riders toward podium finishes.
Other contenders include Jamie Duncan and Richard Sharp who last year all demonstrated the ability to knock on the door of the title.
Automotive Solutions also have significant representation with new riders coming on board and
the entry list for all classes contains an impressive number of new riders. Enquiries have also come in from BSB riders looking to take the opportunity to get aboard a Supermoto.
Many are unaware that complementing the British Supermoto Championship is the action packed four wheel Superlites, who powerslide, leap over the off road sections and all in all will blow your mind when you see them in wheel to wheel action. Last years Champion Phil Lee will once again be pushing to retain the title.
