Every year Berkhamsted MC & CC supports a charity and this year its chosen charity is Guide Dogs. Already with the help of our fantastic of our club members a donation of £2000 has purchased a dog called Nash, named after our practice ground.
Guide Dogs have a National Centre, formerly known as the National Breeding Centre, located just outside of Leamington Spa and is where puppies begin their journey to become life-changing guide dogs. The centre has room to breed up to 1,500 puppies a year and, since opening our doors in 2011, they have now bred almost 11,000 puppies - that's a lot of life-changers! Over the coming years Guide Dogs are looking to increase the number of guide dog partnerships and are also developing a broader range of services that will help more people who are blind and partially sighted to get out and about on their own terms.
With this year’s amount of £2000 the charity total raised to date, by Berko club members, exceeds £25,000.
Some of the charities Berko has helped over the years are… Waterways Experiences Hemel Hempstead , Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, The Hospice of St. Francis, MIND, Cardiac Risk in the Young, Macmillan Cancer Support, Sport Aid, Michael Sobel Hospice, Rennie Grove Hospice Care, Leukaemia Research Foundation, ACU Benevolent Fund…
