It is with great sadness that the ACU have to tell you that Bill Smith, father to Rob Smith and husband to the late Vera Smith passed away peacefully in the early hours of Friday 12th November at the grand young age of 94.
Bill was resolute and strong in character and for many many years, and probably too many years to mention was a dominant part of the East Midlands Centre activities, including auditing, Ben Fund Officer and headed up Leicester Grasstrack Club organising numerous events and championships. Bill never stood still for long, always looking for challenges and ways to improve the sport
Bill was a stalwart supporter of the cause and although moved away from activities some years ago, his standards and ethics can still be felt today.
This only touches the surface of what Bill achieved in his long and fruitful life and for those who knew him and those who worked alongside him won’t need to be told of the invaluable work he did throughout his lifetime and the impact he had on the people he touched with his presence.
He will be so greatly missed, and our thoughts go out to Rob and his family at this very sad time.
