A hot dry September day dawned over Tye Farm, Great Cornard as the twisty track across a large expanse of undulating stubble promised a testing course for the riders. This Annual memorial event for Sudbury Motorcycle Clubs late chairman Dave Roper provides funds for upcoming youth riders was run with a series of Motocross style races with heats creating 4 fast class finals at the end of the days event.
As each race was just over 20 minutes it meant the pace was ferocious and provided spectators with some very entertaining racing.
Visibility was the main concern as the wake of dust left by other riders caused a few problematic corners as the berms deepened throughout the day. The youth entries tackled the same track as the adults, with the starts forming important pointers to final position as the day progressed. Some fierce tussles took place around the course with
A touching post-race ceremony took place to close the days event with all three riders receiving awards from Mrs Bev Roper. James Mangham finally taking number one podium position in the final after two second places in the heats with Jake Clements just a fraction of a second slower in 2nd having had two first places and Zak Beards taking his third 3rd place of the day.
