Being described as a double header, the second and third rounds of the series takes place this weekend in Devon.
The Anthony Rew Trial constitutes round two at Kelly, near Bovey Tracey on Saturday and then across to the other side of Dartmoor, the Torridge Club will organise round three on Sunday at their Peter Tavy venue.
The weekend is likely to be Trials of two halves. The grippy dry rocks at Kelly Farm make up the twelve sections on Saturday, whilst immediately the eighty riders arrive at the first four sections at Peter Tavy they will be faced with banks and climbs which offer little or no grip.
The West of England Club have found new areas and re introduced some old parts for Saturday’s event, including snippets which have not been used for twenty years. On a very compact course, spectators will easily be able to follow the action throughout all twelve sections on the three lap event.
Twenty miles to the West, Sunday’s event features three groups of sections on a longer lap. The first five sections are in the “Bottom Wood” where the first four are climbs on the slippery hillside before the fifth plunges into the River Tavy, with a huge rock step at the end facing the five Trial GB riders.
From here it is upstream in one of the river’s tributaries for two more traditional sections, before climbing up onto the Tor for five sections on the boulder strewn hillside.
All of the UK’s top riders will be in action including our riders who recently excelled in the recent Grand Prix in Italy.
The action starts at 9.30am on both days and spectators are invited to both events, providing they respect Covid rules. The admission charge is £5 for adults on either day.
