Forestry England and the landowners of Rushford Estate, where Diss MCC held an enduro event during 2020, have reported a very high level of illegal riding over the past two weekends, including a gang of 30 riders seen in the forest on Sunday 21st Feb.
It is critical, if off-road sport is to survive, that any illegal riding is immediately stopped. Given the public nuisance, environmental damage and damage to land and crops, we can expect landowners to withdraw all permission if this continues.
It’s easy to say that these are not ACU competition riders, but some of the evidence would indicate otherwise.
The ACU takes a zero-tolerance approach to this in partnership with the Forestry England, landowners and local police. Anyone caught illegally riding on Forestry England Land can expect the following:
· Your bike may be impounded under a Section 59 order by the Police.
· You may be prosecuted for a criminal act by the police.
· You will be reported to ACU/ AMCA Head Office for a termination of your competition licence. This will be shared with all authorising bodies.
