While the sport of Motocross is currently on pause due to the current National Lockdown. The ACU Motocross Committee has been working hard in the background to ensure that its Officials are licenced and ready for when the sport can resume shortly.
Due to the current National Lockdown stopping the normal classroom-based seminars taking place, the Committee were quick to develop an Online seminar for Clerks of the Courses and Stewards to ensure that all its Licenced Officials where qualified in preparation for the upcoming 2021 season.
The ACU understands the importance of having qualified officials at all ACU Motocross events, from local club events to National Championships. Therefore, over the recent weeks the ACU Motocross Committee have been running several Virtual Seminars for Regional and National licence holders to renew, upgrade or take out their first licence.
Steve McCauley, ACU Motocross Chairman said ‘We have been looking at ways of moving some of our training onto an online system for some time now, especially in relation to officials requiring renewals. Like many other matters the current covid situation has encouraged us to make these changes sooner than originally planned and we now have four different modules which we feel will cater for all applicants. We also hope that as applicants can now receive first class training from the comfort of their own home or office and no longer have to travel, this will encourage additional candidates to come forward. Once more I am delighted that our discipline is the first to roll out these exciting new changes and I'd like to thank all of my colleagues who have assisted in putting this together.’
There are still a limited number of spaces for Applicants to join the remaining courses to ensure they are qualified ready for the sport to restart. To apply please contact Sonia Goggin by email at sonia@acu.org.uk
