Joe Thompson is the leader of the British 500cc Youth Championship after a faultless display to win Round 4 of the series at Edinburgh.
The Leicester youngster had been tied at the top of the standings with twin brother Dan, but five wins out of five at Armadale saw him edge clear with one round to go at Belle Vue next month.
Dan recovered from a second-ride stoppage to reach the Final but had to give best to Joe, whilst Harry McGurk was third after Archie Freeman crashed out in the battle for a rostrum place.
In the 250cc class, Max James took the honours over Ashton Vale after previous series leader Luke Harrison fell earlier in the meeting following another spectacular battle with James, and could not continue.
Max Perry won the 125cc class, whilst Stene Pijper – son for former Monarchs rider Theo – took the 125cc support section with five wins out of five.
Youth boss Neil Vatcher said: “It was a very good day. There were a couple of incidents, nothing to do with track conditions, in fact the track was really good.
“They were the kind of incidents which can happen on any tight technical track, and in fact it was all part of their learning experience.”
