Great Britain duo Jason Edwards and Jordan Palin finished sixth in the FIM European Under-19 Pairs Final at Gustrow on Saturday.
The GB combination scored 11 points from six races, finishing eight adrift of the rostrum places in an event won by the Czech Republic ahead of Latvia and Poland.
Youth boss Neil Vatcher said: “Considering the lack of experience that both riders have had at this level, and remember this was a European Final, both boys were in the mix, and just short of getting some race wins.
“We have to remember that Jason has only done a few Championship level fixtures and Jordan is yet to even make his debut in the Championship – therefore, we are basically saying that GB had two riders with just National League experience competing against the best Under-19s from across Europe, who ride in many different European leagues including Poland and Sweden.
“However, I am very pleased with their efforts, and although both boys were personally disappointed, they will benefit from riding in these type of events and in the tough conditions.
“I’m sure these two boys will be competing at this level for many years to come.”
