Drew Kemp secured back-to-back British Under-19 titles with a 15-point maximum at Scunthorpe on Sunday.
The Ipswich and Eastbourne youngster went through the card at the Eddie Wright Raceway in a hugely entertaining meeting, edging out Kent’s Dan Gilkes by one point.
Kemp defeated Gilkes when they met in Heat 4 but Gilkes then won his next four rides, leaving Kemp to come from the back to complete his maximum in a terrific Heat 20.
Home star Jordan Palin completed the rostrum finishers, recovering from a crash in Heat 1 to score ten, then defeating Joe Thompson and Henry Atkins in a three-man run-off for third place.
Kemp said: “I’ve made some changes, this year I’ve been struggling a little bit abroad, and it just feels good to get a good meeting underway and to win it two times in a row.
“It shows I can do it, and hopefully it’s a sign of good things to come. I’ve got a few big meetings to come now, so I just want to carry this form into those and we’ll be well away.”
