Great Britain star Robert Lambert holds the joint-lead of the Speedway Euro Championship after Saturday’s opening round at Torun.
The King’s Lynn favourite finished second to World No.2 Leon Madsen in the meeting Final, but accumulated 14 points overall as he continued his terrific form in Poland.
That leaves him level with Nicki Pedersen, who was third in the Final, whilst Madsen is two points further back on 12.
Lambert said: "It’s great to come out of this meeting as the leader, but there’s still a long way to go and we’re going to keep fighting for every point.
“In any kind of Championship you’re always looking for the top spot, and I’m also looking to stay in the top five for the following season.
”It gives a little bit more this year with the top spot being able to get into the Grand Prix, so that’s definitely a goal on the horizon.”
The five-round series continues with the second event at Bydgoszcz on Wednesday.
