Due to the ongoing circumstances and restrictions associated with the Coronavirus disease pandemic, ASTRA Club in consultation with the ACU regret to announce the cancellation of the 2020 British Masters Track Racing Final scheduled to take place on 13th September.
Whilst preparation for the event has been underway for some months continuing concerns for public safety and the well-being of essential volunteers, competitors and supporters is the overriding consideration that has made this decision inevitable.
Graham Hurry on behalf of the club explained, the event is and has always been all about displaying the best of competition on the domestic scene. Also close interaction between competitors the public and their families is part of the experience for all ages. Social distancing and other practical requirements in compliance with government guidelines will take away this essential part of the event.
As organisers we too are enthusiasts and it would have been the highlight of the year, hence the decision to cancel the 2020 event was not taken lightly.
Our concern for the safety of everyone is paramount. Both the ACU Track Racing Track Racing Committee and the Club are very disappointed, but work will continue behind the scenes to deliver a first class event in 2021.
In the meantime please stay safe.
