Dear All
I hope you are all managing to stay safe from this pestilential Covid-19. Testing times for everyone.
Some of you might be aware that I’ve produced a generic Risk Assessment for Trials which can be used by Trials Organisers or for Trials Organisers to amend/adapt their own Risk Assessment if they wish to extract any information from the one that has been sent out. The generic Trials Risk Assessment is also available on the ACU Website; https://www.acu.org.uk//News/2019/12/Off-Road-Event-Paperwork-2020/ scroll down until you get to the Risk Assessment section.
Now we have some down time, the Board of Directors have asked me to email all Organisers to ask if anyone would like to have their Risk Assessments reviewed or have another pair of eyes look at it and offer comment as necessary?
Some of you have been doing Risk Assessments for years and as such are well versed with the Risk Assessment process and may well be perfectly happy with what you have – no problem with that.
However, for some the Risk Assessment process is relatively new, so if you wish or you think it would help, I would be more than happy to offer some assistance to look over a risk assessment that has been produced or indeed, to offer help/advice with drafting a risk assessment. Obviously, for the time-being during the Lockdown phase, a site visit would be out of the question, but any assistance I could give, then would be pleased to do so.
Once this pandemic is over, if anyone would like me to come and conduct a site visit, then again, would be happy to do so.
If you haven’t seen the generic Trials Risk Assessment form, I’ve attached it for you to look at. Basically, for those Organisers of Trials events that wish to use it, Column (d) should be the existing control measures which can be used as a checklist and Column ( e ) has been left blank for the Organiser to complete should there be any further control measures not mentioned in Column ( d ). If there are no additional control measures, then for Trials Organisers you have your risk assessment and all you have to do is fill in the permit number / venue etc on the first page.
In the meantime, I hope you all keep healthy and safe.
Kind regards
Gary
