La Nucia, Alicante was the venue of the Trial GP Spain for the final round of the 2019 World Trials Championship. On Saturday afternoon, qualification started with the Women's Trial2 which on the second run 15-year-old Alice Minta went round the section in 22.31 seconds and took 1st place. In the Women GP class Emma Bristow also took first place.
Under Sunday's sunny skies riders set off on the 2 laps of 10km and 30 sections, all needing to have been completed in the 5 hours time limit. With a long course, time penalties played a part in the Trial GP class with only Jack Price and Dan Peace not incurring marks on time. James Dabill ended the trial in 9th position, followed closely by Jack Price in 10th and Dan Peace in 12th.
In the men's Trial2 class, four Brits took on the challenging event, Toby Martyn came away in 6th position, next was Jack Peace in 7th, Billy Green in 16th and Welshman Hugo Jervis in 29th.
Taking her 5th round win in 2019 Emma Bristow was able to clinch her 6th World Championship title. Emma cleaned sections one to nine on both laps, with sections ten onwards taking high marks in the Women's TrialGP class. Emma was able to power through sections saving marks and extending her lead to the end.
In Women's Trial2 Alicia Robinson took her 1st win in the World Championship, a brilliant result after being close on several occasions. In 2nd position was fellow Brit rider Alice Minta 2 marks behind. Gabby Whitham had a hard fall on section 15 on the first lap, but after taking a couple of minutes to recover was able to end the trial in 10th place.
The Women's Trial2 championship went down to this final round, Alice Minta and Germany's Vivian Wachs tied on 51 points, the tie decider falling in Vivian's favour based on majority of best results across all rounds, so close but still an outstanding result on her first attempt in the World Championship.
