The Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club have been busy during the closed season making improvements to the Darley Moor Motor Sports Centre and the list of championship classes that will benefit both competitors and spectators for the forthcoming season.
Next weekend, Saturday 6th – Sunday 7th April, the flag will be lifted on the 2019 season with a Test Day at the circuit near, near Ashbourne, DE6 2ET, on the Saturday and Race Day on Sunday. The Club’s list of championship

Just some of the improvements for spectators include the complete re-wire of the circuit’s PA System. So, instead of choosing between your favourite viewing spot and ease of listening to the race commentary you will now be able to head straight to your favoured vantage point. However, a great deal of work has been undertaken on the spectator side of Park Corner, with improvements to the viewing banks, a new parking area exclusively for holders of ‘Disabled’ badges and their families and the ‘Motor Cycle only’ parking area has been re-established along with a second area now located near to the Camping Area, which also benefits from improved entrances.
As always, the first Round of any championship can highlight potential surprises amongst the regular contenders for championship honours, but this weekend will see the return of Jim Hodson (Wigan) in the Peak Cup and Open Solo classes. Hodson along with Richard Eglin (Derby) and Daley Mathison (Stockton on Tees) will no doubt be amongst the front runners in these classes.
There is also the first round of the Curtis Milner Trophy, in memory of a young Darley Moor racer who lost his life in a road accident. The Trophy will be decided over the combined results of the second Formula 600 race at Round 1 and Round 2.
In addition to the solos and sidecar races there will also be races for a variety of Karts; 125, 250 and 450 single cylinder machines, plus 250cc twin cylinder machines.
Saturday’s Test Day is scheduled to run between 10am – 5pm, whilst Sunday’s action begins with Practice at 10am, with the first race scheduled for 11.30am.
