Right on schedule the organisers of the newly formed South West Masters Motocross series have announced all five of their proposed dates for 2019. A team led by Robin Griffith have secured the best circuits in the South West for the high profile rounds which will revive the old Premier MX series which was relinquished in 2014.
Robin Griffith explained that whilst the SWOR series successfully runs events for both adult and youths in the area, the South West Masters – a name which was relevant in the heydays of the late eighties, will focus on high quality, swiftly run adult only events with a competitive element whilst ensuring fun and safety are successfully mixed at an affordable price.
The series will kick off with round one being on the 31st March at the revamped Whiteway Barton circuit near Newton Abbot before moving into Cornwall for a new track at Newquay Moto Park on May 12th. The always popular Little Silver circuit will mark the midpoint of the series on the 23rd June before the mid-summer break in July. Landrake, just on the Devon Cornwall border, kicks off the second part of the season with the hillside venue always popular with riders and fans alike before the final round moves into Somerset at the iconic Farleigh Castle circuit on the 15th September. Griffith has promised a fast flowing circuit here being as close as possible to the Grand Prix circuit from the mid-eighties and early nineties including the woodland steps.
Commenting on the chosen venues, the popular and well respected organiser commented, “We feel it is better to run a smaller amount of quality events for the first year to give riders their confidence back into the series. All of the tracks are clubmen friendly but at the same time you can be sure the races will be testing for the experts. Riders are our customers and they want value for money which is exactly our aim from the outset.”
Full details of the registration and entry process will be released shortly.
