With prolonged rain forecast for the forthcoming Friday and Saturday the decision has been made to cancel the final round of the ACU British Sidecar Speedway Championship event that had been scheduled to take place at Belle Vue this weekend.
ACU Events Chairman, Brian Higgins commented, “The weather forecast is dismal for Saturday and as it is the final round we most certainly would want to end the season on a high note.
We appreciate that the circuit owners at Belle Vue have offered to do as much as possible but have conceded that with any rain falling on Saturday it would be very difficult to ensure a track surface of a suitable standard to reflect the status of the competition.
With competitors, fans and supporters travelling from far afield the last thing we would wish to do is cancel on Saturday evening so I believe the correct call has been made today”
Anyone who has purchased advanced tickets for Belle Vue should contact the ACU with regards to a refund.
ACU Events are currently looking at options of restaging the events in the coming weeks or at an alternative venue.
