It was confirmed at a press conference earlier this week that British rider Robert Lambert will compete in this seasons TAURON Speedway Euro Championship. Robert received a wild card nomination from the FIM Europe Track Racing Commissions ECB, where he will replace Artem Laguta in this year’s series, making him the youngest rider in the 2018 starting lineup. Norwich based Lambert, who only turned 20 in April, has already gathered a number of titles, which includes both the European Under 19 and Under 21 championship crown last season. Lambert also featured as part of the England team that raced in the FIM Speedway World Cup last year at Leszno in Poland. Piotr Szymański, Chairman of FIM Europe’s Track Racing Commission commented, ‘we’re really happy that Robert is joining this year’s SEC line up, and it’s great to have a British rider who is a defending European Junior Champion. We are confident he will be mixing it with the other top 15 riders, especially as Robert is the only representative from Great Britain starting in this year's SEC’. Dickie Staff, ACU Track Racing Committee Chairman added, ‘this is a great opportunity for a young English rider to show his full potential, in what I’m sure will be a great European Championship series. As the result of years of hard work and dedication given by Neil Vatcher and his youth development scheme, we are now seeing young British riders being given the opportunity of competing in European Championship events, which in turn will help their own personal development and confidence. I’m sure everyone at the ACU, SCB and BSPA will join me in congratulating Robert on his SEC nomination, and despite his young age, I’m confident he is a rider with the potential to become one of the best in the world within a very short time’. The nomination of Lambert was also warmly welcomed by the SEC organisers - One Sport - who commented, ‘Robert Lambert is a rider with huge potential, so we're very excited for him to be joining the lineup of TAURON Speedway Euro Championship. Unfortunately we haven’t had British riders in the event since 2013 - when Tai Woffinden was competing - so Robert’s presence is fantastic news and we would like to take this opportunity to thank the British federation (ACU) for their support and cooperation in making this all achievable’ The first round of SEC 2018 is scheduled for the 23rd June at Gniezno in Poland and tickets can be purchased via
