Twenty-three-year-old Josh Golding and his younger brother Luke, now twenty years of age, won the fifth event in the ACU Wessex Plant Sponsored British Sidecar Trials Championship at Cranford Firs, Northants, on May 20th.
The Yate-Bristol brothers managed to beat British champions Jon Tuck and passenger Matt Sparkes at the Nene Valley M.C.C. trial. They also live in Yate. Josh works an electrical engineer while Luke is in his final year as a trainee plasterer.
The Yate contestant missed the opening event in Derbyshire because of snowbound roads but Isle of Man crew Oliver Lace and passenger Ealish Baxter did manage to get over from the Liverpool ferry terminal and win the expert class. They still lead the series nine points ahead of Tuck and Sparkes who are just two championship points ahead of the charging Goldings. Bradford's Nigel Scott and daughter Gracie-Mae, Manx Clubman class contenders Jack Corlett and Beth took their fourth victory and are thirteen championship points ahead of Paul Fishlock and Debbie Merrell.
Elliot and Graham Tickner are the only Newcomers and have won all five events. The championship now rests until August 4 and 5 when the re-dated Andy Cheeseman Trial and Tuck Cross Trial take place at Hound Tor, Devon and Greenfield, Bristol.
