One of the biggest events on the domestic Grasstrack calendar takes place this Sunday 10th June, as GTSA Racing Ltd presents the '2018 British Clubmans Championship', which will decide the qualifiers for the British Master’s championship taking place on the 12th August held by the Cheshire GTC.
The 500cc Solos see's some of the country's top riders battle it out to be crowned British Clubmans Champion. Expected to be seen at the sharp end are likely to be Tim Nobes, Steve Boxall, Dan WInterton, Eastbourne Eagles star Mark Baseby making a rare outing on the Grass this year, , Stephen Green who usually competes in the Upright solo class, plus local riders Martyn Sturgeon and Adam Filmer. It will also be interesting to see how youngster Henry Atkins, the current British 250cc Champion, gets on against some of the more experienced campaigners in the 500cc solo class.
The always exciting 1000cc Right Hand Sidecar class has thrown up one of the most open entries in recent memory. Reigning and defending British Clubmans Champions Tom Cossar & Wayne Rickards look to defend the title they won at Pickering in 2017. Gary Shearer/Kylub Wilce have shown they have plenty of speed to push on and try and qualify. Simon Heal/Rowland Broomfield are having one of their best seasons to date, including finishing runner-up at the European Semi-final meeting at Swingfield.
Neal Owen/Jason Farwell with their fantastic sounding Godden V-Twin should be there or there abouts. Will Offen and new passenger for 2018 Josh Russell have put in some impressive performances in the Sidecar Speedway this year may also be pushing for a place in the final. Guernsey's very own Clint Blondel/Kev Bennet have also looked fast all year, as has youngsters Kieran Hicks/Robbie Simmons who won their first meeting at Bridgwater a few weeks ago. Matt Fumarola/Gareth Williams & Peter Lloyd should also be towards the sharp end.
The meeting is also supported by the Left-Hand Sidecars.
The meeting takes place at Dig Dog Lane near Frittenden, Kent. Sat Nav: TN17 2AX - Please note, this is a different venue and club to the Frittenden club which ran a few weeks back. Practice is at 11am with the first race scheduled for 1pm.
