It was the Westmorland Motor Club who organised The Lakeland Trial round 2 of the RT Keedwell ACU British Solo Championships last weekend. The RT Keedwell sponsored series was held at Tows Top, High Newton a natural venue with plenty to test the entry. The main Championship Class saw James Dabill once again in control as he took a comfortable win from Dan Peace and Jack Price who came home second and third. James set the scene early on by posting an opening lap for just two marks lost both going in single dabs at sections seven and eight. Dan Peace is obviously getting used to appearing on the podium and completed his opening circuit for 10 marks lost with his brother Jack holding third place early on. Dabill lost just three marks on lap 2 with current British number 1 Jack Price moving into third after a superb ride spoilt only by a five at section six. Dan Peace made his third lap his best to cement second place. Jack Price grabbed third but for James Dabill he was away and clear for win number two in 2018. In the Expert Class Richard Sadler took a six mark win from Dan Thorpe with Guy Kendrew third four marks further back. Dan could have been on for the win but section 1 proved to be a real bogey hazard and prevented him challenging Richard. Guy Kendrew was a very comfortable third, with Luke Walker fourth and Emma Bristow fifth. The new Masters class saw a tight competition between Ross Danby and Sam Haslam with the TRS rider just shading it. Mitchell Brightmore topped the Elite Youth from Brett Harbud. Everyone in the class found it hard going on the smaller capacity machines but everyone made the finish. Pictures courtesy of Trials Media
