The start of the 2108 ACU British Extreme Enduro Championship looks set to be a cracker at Tong this coming weekend.
A capacity entry will tackle the daunting course at Parkwood Offroad, near Bradford, as organiser Paul Edmondson of Fast Eddy Racing has scoured the venue and found plenty of new sections to test riders to the max.
The whole schedule is something completely new as the racers in the morning race will run in a clockwise direction, going down the tricky waterfall within a minute of the start, while the afternoon racers will run the opposite direction on what will be in effect a totally new course. This is a brilliant piece of planning as all the tough sections will be ridden in both directions, something never tried before in the UK.
Response to the event has been terrific with equal numbers entered in both races. The addition of an Elite Vets class in the afternoon race has relieved some pressure on the packed morning race but Vets are still out in force alongside Youth and Sportsman riders.
With the Elite Vets joining the Pro, Expert and Clubman ranks for the afternoon race the action jumps up to a new level with the inclusion of some very capable Elite Vet riders.
The course is open for inspection from 9.00am on Saturday and signing on will also be available from midday until 3.30pm.
The action gets underway at 9.30am with the start of the two-hour morning race and will be followed at 12.30pm by the two and a half hour afternoon race.
Spectator prices remain at a very reasonable £10 for adults, £5 for Under 16s and Senior Citizens with under 5’s free. Great value considering there will be two very different races running throughout the day. As always, parking is free.
