The ACU British ISDE teams enjoyed the ceremonial start of this year’s ISDE last night in the picturesque host town of Brive-la-Gaillarde. The scorching sun and exciting atmosphere made for a promising evening of entertainment and Team GB took centre stage en masse – proudly flying their flags in front of an enthusiastic crowd. The ceremony gave all the riders an opportunity to unwind following a highly demanding week of test walking and preparation. With the Day 1 & 2 tests alone situated 90km from the paddock it has meant long hours on the road coupled with early starts in attempt to beat the heat. But now, with all the bikes successfully tested and placed into parc ferme and all tests walked, it’s time for the riders to enjoy a well-earned ‘rest day’ on Sunday ahead of Monday morning’s start. ACU GB ISDE Team Manager, Andy Martin: “The boys are all ready to go now and everything has been running smoothly leading up to the start of the event. “This is a good moment to thank all those that have got us here. Firstly a huge thank you must again go to Rygor for the Mercedes vans that have transported the team bikes and gear to the event. Incredibly this is the 13th year Rygor has supported the team. This year we again have the support of Endurotyres.com, Power Enhancer, Body Clinic and LaserMaster. Thanks are also due to the design and graphics input from Lee Fareham at D-zign (helmets) and Ryan Austin at Racegeer (shirts). Also a word of thanks to all the riders’ personal sponsors, without whom they wouldn’t be here. And finally thanks to the journos at RUST Magazine who are again supporting the team with our press service and social media.” “So thank you to all our sponsors and supporters, and good luck to our riders, to the other British club team riders – and all the riders taking part, let’s have a safe and enjoyable Six Days!”
2017’s event marks the 92nd running of the International Six Days of Enduro, and the sixth time that France has played host. Brive-la-Gaillarde, in the heartland of French enduro, last ran the event 16 years ago and pulled in huge crowds. This year, with more than 750 riders participating, and over 100,000 spectators expected during the course of the week, its set to bring enduro to the masses once again and celebrate the sport on a global scale. Team GB will be doing their absolute best to bring home gold medals and mix it at the front in the Trophy and Junior classes.
