This past weekend saw a great weekend of results for ACU riders in the both the European Semi Finals in Saint Macaire, France and at Wimborne, England.
On Saturday night the second of the Solo 500cc European Semi Finals took place in front of around 1000 spectators. Following a storm during the morning, the meeting was run on a wet track, but the weather improved during the afternoon to produce some great racing. The British riders were on top form with Andrew Appleton taking victory in the final after scoring a maximum during the event. Appleton was closely followed home in the final fellow Brits Edward Kennet and Paul Hurry. The Brits also took the top 3 place in the B final with Paul Hurry and Charley Powell to see them qualify to the A final and Callum Walker finish in third and just miss the A final.
The results means that Andrew Appleton, Edward Kennet, Paul Hurry, Charley Powell and Callum Walker now join James Shanes, Paul Cooper who had both qualified from the first Semi Final in the final on 12th August at Hertigen, in Germany. Also making the trip will be Daniel Winterton as a Reserve.
The following day the second European Semi Final for the 500cc Sidecars took place at Merley Hall Farm near Wimborne in Dorest. Shaun Harvey and his passenger Daniel Hogg claimed onto the podium even after suffering a big tumble in the first running on the Final and having to make rapid repairs to return to the track and finish third in front of the home crowd. Just of the podium was Dave Carvill and Cameron Godden.
The two crews will also join Josh Goodwin / Liam Brown and Mitch Godden / Paul Smith at the final in Tayac, France on the 1
st July.
