The track of Macon, in France, hosted the U21 Speedway Individual Championship. It offered spectacular racing. The track was in very good conditions, and provided the riders a perfect stage, with around 2000 spectators on a fine and sunny day.
The riders really fought hard to reach the top 5 to qualify for the final. Great Britain young guns Robert Lambert and Dan Bewley both qualified for the European Under 21 Final. The duo put in sensational performances at their semi-final in on Saturday night to book their places in the final at Daugavpils at the end of August.
Polish rider Dominik Kubera claimed victory on the night with 14 points, but Lambert secured second spot with 12 points as Bewley roared past Rafal Karczmarz and Davis Kurmis to win a run-off for third place.
It was a fine result for Bewley in just his second ever European fixture, and the success of the pair means the Young Lions have at least one finalist in all competitions they have entered in 2017.
