The opening round of the 2017 Sidecarcross World Championships was held at Oldebroek in Holland over the Easter weekend.
There were four teams entered from GB with Stuart Brown / Joe Millard, Brett Wilkinson and in their first ever GP George Kinge / Ryan Humphrey all making it through the qualifying races to contest Monday’s two GPs.
Brown took the holeshot in his qualifying race and finished second whilst Wilkinson got a poor start and came through to finish 8
th. In the B Group Kinge qualified in 7
th place.
In the first race on Monday, Brown held third place until the very last lap when he was overtaken by Hermans and finished in fourth. Wilkinson finished in 19
th and Kinge was in the points until the last lap but was overtaken on that lap and hence missed out on his first GP points.
Race two saw Wilkinson get a superb start and was in third place for just over half distance but then overtook Hermans to finish in second place. Brown was sixth and Kinge just got in the points with three laps to go but then dropped back to finish 24
th.
Brown is now equal third in the championship table and Wilkinson is equal seventh. The second round is on 7
th May at Chernivtsi in the Ukraine.
