Last Saturday saw the annual Awards Presentation evening attended by no fewer than 230 people who enjoyed an evening by our very own Nora Resident DJ and Entertainer ‘Stumpy’, along with Photo Booth opportunities and a professional Photographer for the awards also with ‘Mrs. W’ catching those fun moments doing what she does best hiding behind the lens!
All of which can be found on Nora’s Facebook Page for your own use to forwards to friends, family and sponsors …
There was a lot to get through with over £5000 worth of Trophies, Raffle and our annual Auction which raises money not only for the club but charitable causes, such as Bev Barnes who was paralyzed from a Motorsport accident and Air ambulance not forgetting ‘Ben’ The ACU’s own benevolent fund for injured riders all from kind donations from riders, sponsors and supporters of the club who helped us raise a phenomenal £5000, which we will distribute between the club and our chosen recipients.
There were also the special achievement awards this year, which had one or two new ones added.
It saw some emotion in the room and from my part we witnessed what this ‘Quad Family’ is really all about ! …
To Name a few…..,
Cathy Dukes received the Mark Croxford award for her services to the club over the years as both Marshall and Clerk of the Course.
Darren Bridge received an emotional ‘Master of the year’ award.
Dafydd Davies received the Mark Watson Award
Ayrton Knowles an Apt recipient of the Connor Smith Award
Newcomers to the club award saw both Cliff Bounds and Uncle Albert pleased with their recognition awards.
Belgian Davino Bruneel received Nora’s Sportsman Award and Irelands Dean Dillon ‘Most Promising’ Award.
Nora’s own Alfie Walker was a worthy Recipient of the Last trophy of the evening Nora ‘Rider of the Year’ A difficult Decision, historically a Youth Recipient but statistically justifiable….
The ‘standing ovation’ went to Bailey Edwards for this years Bravery award. Bailey and family attended the function only 5 months after a RTA in which they had to amputate Bailey lower leg.
Danny Smith Received the Nora ‘Wesley Card’ Award in recognition of our first UK Quad fatality back in 1996 something very close to my Heart. There are so many we could talk about and none of them have any greater importance than any other.
We danced and partied until we ran out of time, everybody wanted more! So something was right??
We shared company with many Champions of 2016 and began to make our predictions for 2017, all due to commence with Nora-Mx on the 9
th April @ West Meon Hampshire, even sooner in Ireland on the 1
st April for the ACU British Championships.
Wishing you all a great seasons racing for 2017
