It’s the countdown to Christmas and RHL Activities’ early bird entry offer for the 2017 HydroGarden Weston Beach Race, which will take place on the 13-15 October, will soon be ending!
With the savings cut-off rapidly approaching on December 31 there’s never been a more perfect time to get your entry in for the maddest, baddest and biggest off-road event on the UK calendar, or to purchase an entry for a loved one that has been talking about it for years. With 2017 soon to be here, perhaps your New Year’s resolution could be to prepare and take on the most badass beach race in the country.
The HydroGarden Weston Beach race preparations are already well underway with the RHL Activities team looking to re-create the magic of this year’s event with its fantastic atmosphere, awesome racing, bumper entry and star riders. Everything from working with the council, to the ACU, to health and safety, fencing, security, medical cover, track build and so on will be reviewed and discussed with plans being put into place for next October. The RHL team is already immersed in this process, and as usual will be looking to make next year’s event better than ever.
“This year certainly was a great event, although as RHL Activities we weren’t satisfied with the running of the event from an internal point of view. We feel the atmosphere was back, the general feel of the event was good, but we’re always self-critical and looking for improvements, so there will definitely be more positive changes for next year,” said Director of RHL Activities, Gareth Hockey.
“We’ve already had over 200 entries for 2017. It’s a great, quirky Christmas present if you’re stuck for ideas - you could enter someone who has talked about it for years but never had the bottle to go through with it. There’s a price increase at the end December, so it’s a good time to get entered. We had a lot of positive feedback after this year’s event, and of course we continue to look for better things for the future – we’ve got a lot of ideas we’re considering for next year,” continued Hockey.
This year saw a titanic battle with Todd Kellett and Tanel Leok fighting it out from start-to-finish of the adult solo race, while Jonny Walker, Robbie Maddison and Scott Redding were some of the famous riders who took on the event for the first time. The racing was superb throughout all classes from the stars of tomorrow in the junior ranks, to the quad categories with many thrills, spills and stories that made it such a memorable weekend.
